Corridor Management Plan Route 90 Scenic Byway: The Road Less Traveled

  Vision Statement

A community vision of Route 90 that builds on a sense of place:

  • To highlight this rural road, rich in agricultural and small-town heritage;

  • To invite the enjoyment of the recreational and historic sites along the byway while maintaining the agricultural character of the corridor;

  • To preserve the fertile agricultural land for future generations;

  • To enjoy the diverse scenic views, from the shores of Cayuga Lake to the rolling countryside, for residents and visitors;

  • To celebrate and protect water in the form of the lake, the canal, the village ponds, fishing creeks and Montezuma Wildlife Refuge;

  • To stimulate an economic vitality that is rooted in the beauty of the seasonal, changing landscape, natural resources, and friendly small towns;

  • To cultivate an ethic of stewardship and pride in every resident, and to foster cooperation among Route 90 communities - so that we may appreciate what we have and act to protect it.

Adopted by the Scenic Route 90 Steering Committee 7/8/96.
