Hosting and Link Policy

CayugaNet seeks to provide filters to maintain community standards, therefore, CayugaNet reserves the right to review any materials stored or proposed to be stored on CayugaNet's server and to remove or prohibit any material which Cayuga County, in its sole discretion, believes to be unlawful, obscene, abusive or otherwise objectionable. Any material found to be objectionable may be appealed through the appeal process. All users must abide by such rules and regulations of system usage as contained in this policy statement and as may be announced from time to time by the CayugaNet administrator.

CayugaNet does not guarantee operation and performance of the system or that it will meet any specific requirements. Cayuga County will not be held liable for indirect, incidental and consequential losses or damages connected with the use of CayugaNet.

Web Pages and Links:
a) Are to be submitted to the CayugaNet Administrator and will be previewed by the CayugaNet Webmaster. Approved web pages and links will normally be posted within seven business days.
b) Content of any site hosted or linked on CayugaNet should be suitable for community viewing (including minors) and CayugaNet reserves the right to remove or refuse Gateway listings which contain material deemed inappropriate for a broad community audience.
c) CayugaNet does not necessarily endorse the persons or views represented by pages this site may point to, and is not responsible for any content not hosted by CayugaNet.
d) CayugaNet reserves the right to reject or remove any URL submitted for inclusion in the CayugaNet directory listings, subject to established CayugaNet policies and procedures.
e) Business and organization web sites linked on CayugaNet will be allowed only one link under a business catagory unless deemed appropriate by the CayugaNet Administrator and/or Webmaster.
The CayugaNet webmaster has final say as to what category links appear under.
f) Businesses and organizations with web sites linked on CayugaNet must be located within Cayuga County unless deemed appropriate by the CayugaNet Administrator and/or webmaster.
In addition, any web site that is primarily a "Virtual on-line business" must be registered as a business in Cayuga County and have the Registered Business Name prominently displayed along with the local address and/or local phone number for contact information (also displayed prominently) on the web site. Virtual on-line businesses that do not have their company's primary business location in Cayuga County will not be listed.
g) CayugaNet reserves the right to remove any outdated information on sites hosted by CayugaNet or links on CayugaNet to any web site containing any outdated information, errors, or that are not viewable by most major web browsers.
h) Pages hosted by CayugaNet should be tagged, identifying the dates of most recent update.
i) Maintenance and update of pages will be the sole responsibility of the content owner.

Appeal process:
a) Appeals must be submitted to CayugaNet administrator and reviewed by the CayugaNet webmaster for informational purposes.
b) Appeals will then be forwarded to the Cayuga County Information Technology Committee for review.
c) The final decision will lie with the Cayuga County Information Technology Committee.
