The Cayuga County AIDS Council was established in November 1988 in order to coordinate health and social services for persons with AIDS. We are a group of agency representatives and concerned citizens whose goal is to increase public awareness and sensitivity to persons who have HIV infection and AIDS. We seek to support these individuals and their loved ones. Our mission has been expanded to be the lead providers of community outreach, education, information and referrals in hopes to stem the tide of this epidemic. We operate in a caring atmosphere that includes networking, confidentiality, and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity. We seek to promote the development of local services for our community and for persons with AIDS. Persons with AIDS and their families often require medical, financial, legal, social and emotional support. The AIDS Council is a referral source and can connect those in need with the necessary services. The Council also provides information regarding AIDS, HIV testing, and services and educational programs for groups or organizations. Council Meetings held the first Monday of the month at 12:00 Noon - The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center. If attending meetings for the first time please contact Sherry R. Saben (315) 255-1256 before the first Monday of the month. |
