Auburn's
rich and diverse history comes alive at the Cayuga Museum. Opened in 1936 in
the Willard-Case Mansion, the Museum's mission is to preserve and exhibit
the history of Auburn and Cayuga County. The Mansion itself, built in 1836,
is a beautifully-preserved example of a vanished way of life. The Case
Research Lab Museum, opened in 1994 on the grounds of the Cayuga Museum, is
where Theodore Case developed the first commercially successful sound film.
Operated jointly, both sites present permanent displays, prestigious
traveling exhibits, and unique exhibits focusing on Auburn and Cayuga
County.
The
Cayuga Museum and Case Research Lab Museum are supported, in part, through
the good wishes of members who believe in the importance of preserving
Auburn's history. |
